LTF Inspire

The LTF Inspire scheme was designed to give something back to the schools we work alongside. We work closely with figures in the local community who provide activities such as: workshops, Q & A sessions and educational workshops. LTF currently work with: authors, professional athletes, TV presenters and authors. We have reached out to over 3000 pupils already this academic year. Giving Something Back

Derrick is a professional boxer whose current record stands at 10 fights and 10 wins. Derrick graduated from the Nottingham Trent University in 2016 before becoming a professional boxer. Outside of boxing, Derrick is an ordained minister and regularly delivers services at his local church. Derrick has delivered motivational speeches in assemblies, Q & A sessions and fitness & boxercise classes. Derrick has delivered sessions at several different schools across Nottingham and Derby.

Jamie is an award-winning writer and professional spoken word poet. Jamie shot to fame after performing his most famous poem about Derby County. He is now Derby County’s official poet and has performed his poem on several occasions to over 32,000 people. Jamie is also a BBC commissioned writer and has had two poetry collections published. Jamie has been into schools to deliver poetry workshops. He has managed to engage children who have previously seen poetry as something they are uninterested in.

Owen is a journalist who has spent time working at the BBC and is now the lead presenter on Derby County’s official TV channel. Throughout his time working as a journalist, Owen has interviewed such famous names as: Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard & Nigel Clough. Owen graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a masters’ degree in journalism. Owen is available to deliver sessions for media studies students and also able to lead any workshops in and around newspaper writing/reporting.

Becky is a multi-sport would champion and holds world titles in: kickboxing, taekwondo, grappling and MMA. Becky has travelled across the world representing Great Britain and is also a part of coaching the younger generation of kickboxers. Becky will be able to deliver: assemblies, Q and A sessions, workshops and fitness classes to pupils in your school. Prior to winning her world titles, Becky worked as a mentor in schools supporting children who struggled to manage their behaviours

Mark is a professional footballer who currently plays for Salford City in League 2. Mark has been a professional footballer for three years and in that time has achieved two promotions and even won a play-off final at Wembley Stadium. Mark is also a qualified coach and is using his time during lockdown to train children of all ages. Mark is keen to give something back to local schools and deliver assemblies, answer Q and A sessions and even deliver some coaching sessions in school.

Andre is a footballer who has experience playing for Derby County, Boston United and currently plays for Stafford. Andre will be delivering assemblies around his experiences and other potential career paths for children. He will also be hosting Q and A sessions. Outside of football, Andre runs a successful sports coaching company called Active Ways.

Michael is an actor who grew up in Derby and attended St Benedict’s School. Michael has been part of several shows which have gone on to win awards. Michael rose to fame for playing Harvey in the hit TV show & movie – This is England where he starred alongside award winning actor, Stephen Graham. Michael has also starred in shows such as: Chernobyl (which went on to win an Emmy award) Once Upon A Time, Aliens and also featured in casualty for six episodes. Michael got into acting after teachers told him he couldn’t make it and he wanted to prove them wrong.

Blake graduated from Derby university with a degree in football journalism and has worked for BBC Radio Derby since then. Outside of his work for the BBC, Blake also hosts his own podcast called ‘Talk Derby To Me’ the podcast focusses on famous people who have grown up in and around Derbyshire. He has interviewed names such as actor Chanel Cresswell, former Derby County chairman, Don Amott & X Factor finalist Lucy Spraggan Blake has also interviewed Tyson Fury. Last year, Blake’s podcast was the number 8 most listened to podcast in the UK.
